Easy-Search offers an easy free instant submission. Search results are not very good at this point in time and indicate there is probably only a small amount of websites in their index. However it only takes seconds to submit your website and Google is giving it a page rank of 2 (out of 10), so I cannot see any 'downside' to registering with this Aussie start-up search engine. -
Yahoo! Australia - [ submit url ]
Yahoo! Australia Local Search. Yahoo is currently building up this database so get listed while it's free. This involves filling out a relatively small form with your business details, etc. but not too tedious. Definitely worthwhile registering with the new Yahoo Local Search directory... it won't always be free ;-) -

Australian and New Zealand search engine. Google pagerank: 7 -

Australian search engine with rather limited index at present. Relatively easy to register via inserting your business details in a simple form. No downside to registering and probably worth doing for free. -
Gumtree - www.gumtree.com.au - [ submit url ]
Post free ads (run for 90 days). A bit time consuming to register for your free ad, however you do get a solid link back to your site. Google pagerank: 5. -

Search engine and directory of Australian businesses. An online registration is required as part of the site submission process but probably worthwhile. Google pagerank: 4. -
Easy Biz - [ submit url ]
Australian OnlIne Business Directory with a lengthy submission form. The search facility leaves a bit to be desired, but I'd rate it as being worthy of submitting your site.
